Presidential address by 63rd Pre. Ding Ming Hea.

Good evening honoured guests, fellow Rotarians, ladies & gentlemen. Thank you all for taking off your precious time to be with us here this evening. Let me start off by sharing with you a short story.

Not so very long ago, only 30 years or so, someone joined Rotary Club of Sitiawan. Rotary sounds like rotate, most, if not all, elected positions in Rotary from Rotary International, Districts level down to clubs level, last only for one year including Presidency. In bigger clubs, one rarely get a chance to be a president. But in a small humble club like Sitiawan, we have to be pushed to be a president.

Since then, that Rotarian was urged to become a Pres. That Rotarian has been avoiding to take over the Presidency due to lack of time, work commitment, family commitment, mobility among others. Then last year, that Rotarian realised that he has nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. And he volunteered himself to take over the Presidency. That Rotarian is me who appear in front of you, will officially be a Pressed-sident in a short while.

Since I have accepted the challenge, I will do my best.
I will not walk in front of my fellow Rotarians
I will not walk behind my fellow Rotarians
I will walk side by side with my fellow Rotarians
I will walk together with my fellow Rotarians as a team
I’m different, I’ll do it my way, and I’ll do it my special way

You can see the difference this evening. I'm not standing at the rostrum on the stage. I'm sitting down on the chair to address all of you. We have a good mixed of the directors – senior & junior, gals & guys which will be introduced to you in a moment.

We will continue to carry out the existing beneficial project e.g. Multi-sensory Therapy classroom for mentally challenged kids especially autistic children (in co-operation & collaboration with Rotary International Foundation & other Rotary Clubs. Training of teachers for autism.

We will make the above projects as our signature project, knowing that mental health problems is on the rise due to various reasons e.g. parental pressure on their kids to excel in their studies etc.

Another project we will continue will be Clear Vision – jointly with CIMB Foundation etc. Once again thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen for taking off your precious time to be with us this evening. Your presence indeed make this occasion more memorable and meaningful. Last but not least, I would like to thank my fellow Rotarians for making this evening function possible.

A congratulatory message from PP Danny Ngoi posted on Rotary's Facebook page:

"Congratulations President Ding Ming Hea and his BOD. Tonight is a successful installation with VIPs and guest from nearby rotary clubs to have a great fellowship. Thank you Dato Ngeh and PDG Jimmy Lim and AG Chandra for attending.

We have done many great and meaningful projects for over 60 years in the community of Sitiawan. This year we made a big step for recognizing teacher advisors that have supported the interactors together with the Rotarian advisor.

We proudly recognize by giving her PHF Ms Leo Shann Ing teacher advisor from Interact Club of Dindings. Thanks to PAG Tiong for him to generously giving his merit for the PHF.

I believe this is encourage and motivate more teacher advisors to support their Interactors together with the school principal and RC sitiawan to do in the community. Service above self".
