
ROTARY PERAK EKIDEN RUN FOR CHARITY 2025 ON 09/11/2025 @ POLO GROUND, IPOH. The Rotary Ekiden Run returned to Ipoh, bringing together runners of all ages and backgrounds to honor collaboration, endurance, and community spirit. The youngest participant was 18 years old, while the oldest contestant, at 82, showing that age is no barrier to community involvement and athletic enthusiasm.

The Ekiden Run, which originated in Japan, is a relay race that places equal emphasis on fellowship and competition. Each team comprises of five runners, each covering two kilometers, for a total distance of ten kilometers.
This year's event was co-organized by the Rotary Clubs of Perak and the Perak Tourism Association.

Governor Edward Khoo of District 3300 was the Guest of Honor, with Past President Francis Vijeyaselvan, District 3300 Area Coordinator for the Perak Rotary Clubs and member of the Rotary Club of Greentown, serving as the Organizing Chair.

The revival was a success, gathering 31 teams and 155 players. Runners came from a variety of backgrounds, including government agencies, private companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Rotary Clubs, and the general public.
The event also welcomed competitors with special needs, including those in wheelchairs and scooters, who encouraged both runners and spectators.

Team members were spotted motivating one another, exemplifying the Ekiden Run's message of brotherhood and solidarity.

Every participant was given a finisher's medal and a certificate of completion, but the genuine reward was the sense of encouragement and unity.


The Rotary Ekiden Run's comeback emphasized Rotary's objective of bringing people from all walks of life together for the greater good.
